How To Get Rid Of Boils At Home

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Skin problems can be irritating and extremely painful. Eruptions such as boils, might appear rather innocuous, but if you have experienced one ever, you’ll know how irksome they actually are. But the good news is that you can get rid of boils at home. Read on to find out how to go about doing so.

In case you have a boil, the first thing you need to do is to clean the area with a good quality antibacterial soap at least two times a day. This can reduce the chances of infection in case the boil bursts. After you have cleaned the affected area of the skin try the following steps:

- Chop an onion and boil it in water. After the boiled onion has cooled down sufficiently, apply the chopped pieces directly on the boil. You can wrap a piece of clean gauze so that the onion stays in place. After sometime, remove the onion. You’ll find that the pain is much less and the boil has come to a head.

- In case you do not want to apply the onion, try some Ichthammol ointment as another home remedy for boils. It is an ointment made from sulfonated shale oil and other ingredients such as lanolin and petroleum. It works on your skin by bringing the boil to a head quickly and easily.

- After you have bringing the boil to a head by either of the above-mentioned ways you can simply squeeze the pus out with a swab of clean medicated cotton.

Hopefully boils won’t be much of a problem for you anymore.
